Bill Wyman exhibit at Monaco Modern’Art Gallery

Rock ‘n’ Roll images from Rolling Stones guitarist

Rolling Stones fans should hot-foot it to the Monaco Modern’Art Gallery, where the exhibition, ‘Wyman Shoots’, presenting Bill Wyman’s photographs, begins today.

Visitors will be treated to the bass guitarist’s images, a mixture of photos from the Rolling Stones and the landscape of Vence, where he has a home. Holiday souvenirs and snapshots of his youth enable the English rocker to recount the story of the band which is said to be the most mythical of rock groups. After having mostly displayed rock ‘n’ roll photos, Bill Wyman also presents landscapes and portraits, such as those of the painter Marc Chagall.

The exhibition includes photos such as Mick Jagger playing table tennis, John Lennon lost in his thoughts in 1968 and Ringo Starr on the terrace of the Hotel de Paris in Monaco. However it is reported that Bill Wyman prefers the photos of Vence and the region to those portraying rock ‘n’ roll.

It is said that alongside his enthusiasm for music, Wyman has many other passions. He wrote seven books and a television series, and has taken photographs his entire life, reportedly accumulating around 20,000 images. Since 2006, he has exhibited these across the world, in America, Japan, Holland and Scotland.

The exhibition will be displayed at the Monaco Modern’Art Gallery from Wednesday 9th July to

Thursday 31st August, and is open 9am-12pm and 2pm-6.30pm (2-5.30pm on Fridays).

For those who prefer fine art to photography, The Monaco Modern’Art Gallery has something else to offer. An exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the Monegasque artist Philippe Pastor will be displayed in the Atrium du Casino de Monte-Carlo. Pastor’s art can be viewed from Wednesday 9th July to Monday 18th August, from 2pm.
